We Need Your Support
Aren't you sick and tired of Congress only listening to one voice - Bill Gates - on visas? It's time we tell our side and we need your financial support today to do so. Please give now to help tech workers get their side of the story heard!
On Tuesday, March 7, 2007, Bill Gates testified before the Senate. Unfortunately, no one was there to counter the inaccuracies he brought up. However, this past Sunday's New York Times corrected Bill Gates' lie about "$100,000 a year jobs," so the truth is slowly trickling out. However, we need to make sure Congress knows the facts - and you can help!

Right now we're raising $12,000 to place an ad in Roll Call, a newspaper which is widely read by members of Congress, their staffs and policy makers and opinion leaders in Washington DC and around the country. We need to get the message out that Bill Gates' opinions are not fact.
Will you help? Click on the image on the right to see the ad and contribute - any amount from $5 to $5,000 - to help us pay for the cost of the ad. Together, we can set the record straight!
Below are the most egregious statements Gates made in his Senate testimony and the facts.

The biggest question regarding Bill Gates is why does he dislike Americans?
Anyone who chooses to initiate the type of campaign that he has against American Technology workers, along with the atmosphere of uncertainty this brings to our all of our futures should be viewed as anti-American.
Gates continues to snub his nose at those who are directly responsible for his success, and fortune. Only because of his wealth has he managed to enlist the support of key Government figures.

More than 20 years ago my manager was covered that in the new millenium, the goal of U.S. companies would be that every U.S. worker would have 2 or 3 part-time jobs, paying $8.00 per hour, no vacation, no health benefits, no voice at work and we better be thankful and give 110% loyalty to each company and like it! We are there.

H-1, L-1 and other visa types are the equivalent of scab labor. They are used to lower wages, reduce the power of American workers and to lower benefits.

He is not telling the truth. I know tech workers with advanced degrees and experiences could not get a $100k job. A lot of them are working from contract to contract without any benefit. Some older tech workers, those in 40s and 50s could never get a job.

How many H-1B visas are issued to allow companies to facilitate offshoring? People come to the US for hands-on training and take the work home with them and then their American trainers are thrown out on the street.

Can I contribute to your ad campaingn without a credit card? Credit card companies are among the worst offshoring offenders and security risk.

Finally someone speaks out. The H1B Visa program allows companies to outsource in country. It only delutes our ability to seek a better quality of life. I am not just talking about money. Stress over constantant worrying if you are going to have a job tomorrow is killing Americans. What ever happened to the four day work week promised back in 1984 by people like Bill Gates. Time Americans started looking about the quality of our lives. Until we have leverage over companies we can't.
